A Festive Weekend In Bruges

Ian and I decided that it would be nice to go to Bruges for a little weekend getaway to get us in the christmas spirit - and it definitely lived up to our expectations! We've never been on a winter holiday before so we didn't really know what to expect; I thought that Bruges was going to be super busy and hectic but it actually had a really nice chilled atmosphere. Plenty of waffles and chocolate was consumed and I'm still tackling a gigantic bag of Belgium shells now! Waffles in Belgium are 100% better than waffles anywhere else I swear, you can smell the delicious smell from a mile away! Speaking of food, the churros weren't that bad either.. can you tell I have a sweet tooth?

We spent most of our time wandering the city by foot because it's actually quite small. To me, every little detail about Bruges was beautiful; from the quirky gingerbread like houses to the horse and carriages on the streets instead of cars! We walked up the Belfort tower and it almost killed me off - the tiny spiral stair cases with people going up and down at the same time was quite a challenge (to say the very least) but worth it for the view even in the fog! The city really lights up in the dark and for me that was the best part - all the buildings covered in christmas lights is the prettiest thing and it's hard not to feel festive surrounded by it all! Christmas really is the best time of the year :)

I hope you all had an amazing christmas spent with the ones you love  I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us and what new adventures it will bring!
